Every photo is a row with a state. Retries with backoff, a dead-letter for files that need you, and a nightly check that the database and storage still agree. We never delete from Google. Library deletes in Photu are soft, with a grace period.

Can you sync my whole Google Photos library automatically?

No — and we won’t pretend we can. Google removed library-wide read access in March 2025. Full backup uses Google Takeout; Quick import uses the official Photos picker for the photos you select.
